The Audrey Hepburn Tag (By Shirinatra)

Hello Everyone, welcome back to my blog. I hope you are all doing well, and that you are ready to celebrate Audrey Day! (Although its almost over #mybad)

For those of you who arent aware of the significance of todays date, it actually marks 90 years since the birth of Audrey Hepburn who was born 4th May 1929! Sadly, although Audrey is no longer with us, her legacy as a beauty/fashion icon, movie star and humanitarian still live on today, which is why when I saw that Shirin (or Shirinatra on YouTube and Instagram) created this tag in her latest video, (linked below this post) I knew I had to copy!

Also as a side note, shout out to Shirin who is one of my newest (and most favourite) Instagrammers/ youtubers! She has a beautiful Instagram jam packed with all things vintage related, so if you too are a vintage lover or member of the vintage community, GO FOLLOW HER (you wont regret it)

So, lets get on with the tag….!

  1. How did you find out about Audrey?

I dont think that I could pin point it to one moment, I grew up with Vintage in my life- especially the 1950’s and 60’s because my dad is obsessed with Elvis and all things Rock N Roll. However, I remember really becoming interested in her when I was working with a human rights charity (I was around 15/16) and her name kept popping up, which I thought was strange considering she was this beautiful Hollywood icon! I researched her work with UNICEF and other humanitarian causes, and I absolutely fell in love with her sense of kindness and compassion that I had never scene in a star before!

2. What was your first Audrey movie?

Like so many others, I am pretty sure my first movie was Breakfast at Tiffany’s! Mainly because that beautiful and iconic picture of her smoking the cigarette is the one I had hanging on my wall, so it seemed silly not to know the context behind it!

3. What is your favourite Audrey Movie?

GAH. This one is a hard one , its a toss up between Sabrina and Roman Holiday. I absolutely love them both equally….. but I will say that I am (not so) low key in love with Gregory Peck!

4. What is your least favourite Audrey Movie?

Now…. please dont @ me for this answer. I do like all of her movies, however, my least favourite is probably *hides behind pillow* Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I do like the movie, its obviously visually stunning with the costumes, New York back drop and of course, Audrey! But something about the plot just doesnt click with me like her other movies do.

5. What is your favourite book about Audrey?

Way back, and I mean waaaaaaaaay back in like 2015, my Mum and I visited the Audrey Hepburn: Portraits of an Icon exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London and the exhibition book is just stunning! It has all the beautiful, and rare pictures displayed and is a must for any Audrey fan! (Link to the book below)

6. What would you do if you could spend a day with Audrey?

What a question! Hmm, I would have to say go to a historic house somewhere in the English countryside, have afternoon tea and walk around afterwards in a walled garden full of the most beautiful flowers! I would love to just sit and listen to her stories, her worries, and get some (much needed) life advice! It’s rare in life to come across and meet such a pure soul, and I feel like for so many, Audrey is just that.

7. What is your favourite Audrey decade?

I’d definitely say the 50’s! I absolutely love her 50’s style, and her early movies such as Roman Holiday, Sabrina and Love in the Afternoon are my favourites.

8. What is your favourite Audrey look from a movie?

I have to agree with Shirin, the stunning Givenchy gown in Sabrina is an absolute STUNNER and stands out as one of the greatest movie gowns (at least to me) of all time! When she first comes into the garden in that dress, its not only David who is in awe, its also the movie goer, who for just a moment forgets all the bad that exists in the world aha!

Also worth a mention, the iconic ‘peasant’ costume from Roman Holiday.

9. What is your favourite Audrey song?

Rather hypocritically, its Moon River. As Shirin said in her video, there is just something about that song that makes you want to cry. Even if the words and the meaning of the song are subjective, you find yourself re-living some dark times in your life and being reminded at the end that here you are, still going despite it all. I love that so much.

10. Why do you admire her?

The real question is, what dont I admire about her? Audrey is someone who is beloved to many, past and present because not only was she beautiful on the outside, but she was also so pure of heart within- and thats so rare to come across in this life. I believe that most people try to be good, which is why Audrey remains to this a day an inspiration to this day. Take her movies and her looks away, she would still be just as beautiful a person – thats something I both admire, and strive for in my own life, which is why she is so important to me personally.

So, there you have it! The completed Audrey Tag, thank you so much again to Shirin for creating the tag and I cannot wait to see what answers others come up with <3
